Preserving Western Oklahoma History
SAMS TOWN on 66 is more than a business—it's a labor of love built over 30 years by artist and cancer survivor Samuel Hagen. Every cabin, every artifact, every detail reflects a commitment to preserving the stories and heritage of Western Oklahoma.
We're artist-driven, community-oriented, and we've never met a stranger. We care deeply about the stories and artifacts that tell the history of this land and this highway. From the schoolhouse that once stood on a stagecoach path to the hand-cut wood of the treehouse loft, we're keeping Route 66 alive.
Sam's journey—from artist to visionary to survivor—is woven into every corner of SAMS TOWN on 66. It's a story of creativity, resilience, and the power of following your dreams.

Cabin One
The 100-Year-Old Schoolhouse
A charming relic from the past, this historic schoolhouse was moved to SAMS TOWN from far out into the surrounding brakes of Erick, Oklahoma, where it once stood along a stagecoach path. Step inside and feel the weight of history.
This cozy cabin features a wood-burning fireplace for those cool desert nights, a full kitchen (complete with fridge, freezer, sink, stovetop, microwave, cookware, and dishes), an indoor toilet, and comfortable sleeping for two with a king bed and queen bed. Gather around the bar and table seating, sink into the recliner, and discover the personal artifacts scattered throughout—each one a window into the past.
Cabin Two
The 7-RICKS Treehouse Loft
Named for the seven ricks of wood hand-cut by Sam to build it, this one-of-a-kind treehouse loft is an adventure waiting to happen. The lower area features a wood-burning fireplace, a table with actual burning lamps, and artifacts built into the walls—look around, you never know what you might find. The authentic dirt floor keeps you connected to the earth.
Climb the ladder to the sleeping loft where a double bed awaits beneath a skylight perfect for stargazing. Step out onto the patio balcony perched among the trees, overlooking all of SAMS TOWN on 66. This is where Route 66 dreams come true.
